Meghan Ruiz

Truckee, California

Meghan is an experienced teacher who has been an avid practitioner for over 20 years and teaching for over 10 who came to us from Truckee, CA. A multifaceted  woman, she is also the owner of Henna Love Tahoe and a wedding officiant in the Lake Tahoe area. We were honored when Meghan brought her wonderfully technical teaching style and warmth to the GHY platform in support of Connections for Abused Women and their Children.

Yoga has been woven into the fabric of Meghan’s life ever since her first class in college in the summer of 2001. She has always loved vinyasa-style yoga asana because she enjoys the creative process of sequencing a class – whether it’s working toward a peak pose or focusing on a specific area of the body. The natural curiosity of what poses work where, why, when, and how in order to prepare for more challenging postures inspire her to include unconventional (to yoga) techniques sprinkled throughout her classes.

More than anything, Meghan believes that breath is boss, so focus on the breath is the common thread throughout any of her classes. Expect lighthearted, intelligently sequenced classes with awesome playlists! Meghan is a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and YAECP. She lives in Truckee, CA with her husband and 3 kids.

Meghan dedicated her series to Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC), a nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence. Using a self-help, empowerment approach, CAWC provides a shelter for adults and children, counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence.

CAWC works for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy and believes that all people have a right to violence-free lives.
